From the tank to the river, students at four Sullivan County schools have seen a biology project progress right before their eyes. Monday was the day to see those efforts swim away into the South Holston.

Participants from Avoca, Holston View and Emmett Elementary and Sullivan East High School came to Weir Dam in Bristol, TN for the culmination of their Trout in the Classroom project.

The Overmountain Chapter and Cherokee Chapter of Trout Unlimited provided items for teachers to incorporate into several lessons in their schools throughout the year, including using the fish for lessons and projects in math, science and even art.

The students were responsible for raising the rainbow trout that were released from eggs until Monday's release into the river. Monday's activities also included fly fishing instructional stations and aquatic entymology reviews.
