Welcome to Avoca!

Welcome to Avoca Elementary School! We are eager and excited to host your children this year as we continue to incorporate concepts and activities that are relevant to elementary school students and future college and career readiness.

It’s going to be a great year as our students dive deeper into mathematical practices and continue to refine their literacy skills through reading / language arts, science, and social studies. The academic standards adopted by the state of Tennessee will provide our students with the skills they need to be successful now and in the future.

To ensure we are challenging our children at the appropriate level, we will use formal and informal assessments throughout the year so instructional practices can be modified to address individual student needs. To align with state expectations, we'll also focus on non-fiction reading materials and writing across the curriculum. As we progress through the year, you should see students using technology more and more to personalize their own learning experiences and expand their communication, collaborative, critical thinking, and creative skills.
